RCMP seek dangerous man

Surrey RCMP are looking for a man they describe as armed and dangerous.

They are asking for public assistance in locating Shawn Lachance who is wanted on assault and weapons offences that occurred in November in the Surrey city centre area.

On Nov. 24, RCMP were called to a pub in the 10700 block of King George Boulevard at 1:05 a.m.

A male suspect got into an argument with another male and eventually threatened him with a hand gun, police allege, adding that staff at the pub intervened to try to defuse the situation.

The suspect then punched one of the staff and threatened them with the handgun before fleeing the scene.

Surrey's Serious Crime Unit is leading the investigation and is asking for public help in locating LACHANCE, 25 and from Langley, who is now wanted for Assault and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.  .

"Lachance should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached," said Cpl. Scotty Schumann, RCMP spokesperson.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 5-feet-six-inches tall, 150 lbs, with hazel eyes and brown hair.  He may have a beard and also is known to wear his hair in a ponytail.  Lachance has many tattoos including the word “tum tum” on one side of his neck, and script style writing on the other side.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.

Anyone who sees Lachance should not approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
