SPCA cat clearout

UPDATED: 5 P.M.

The Kelowna branch of the SPCA is also offering 50 per cent off kitten adoption fees, due to an abundance of kittens.

ORIGINAL: 3:53 p.m.

The BC SPCA is clawing back adoption fees as it seeks homes for an abundance of cats.

The fees will be cut in half until Oct. 14 as the agency struggles with more than 1,700 cats in shelters across the province.

And more come in every day, spokesperson Jane Talbot told CTV.

The price reduction applies to adoptions of adult cats.

The fees include spaying or neutering and ID microchip.

"Kittens are always in high demand, but the goal during this event is to find fantastic homes for as many felines as possible," said Talbot.

The SPCA looks after more than 15,000 cats and kittens each year in B.C.
