Heartbreak seniors reunited

Two seniors who broke B.C.'s heart have been reunited.

Wolfram and Anita Gottschalk spent several months separated in different care homes due to a lack of beds.

Their story tugged at the heartstrings, but the couple was all smiles Thursday as they were back together at the Residence at Morgan Heights in Surrey, where Anita had previously been on her own.

A photo of the couple crying went viral internationally this summer, being shared on Facebook more than 10,000 times.

“The reunion saw tears of joy for all involved. They can now be under the same roof for their remaining years, and we couldn’t be more grateful,” family members said in a statement to CTV.

Wolfram, 83, was separated from Anita in January, due to deteriorating health.

Anita moved into Morgan Heights as he was in hospital, and it took until now for another bed to open up.

The couple has been together more than 60 years.
