A woman who died while hiking in the Kootenays has been identified.
Jamie Denise Latreille, 37, from Nelson, died Aug. 26 when she lost her footing and fell about 25 metres from the top of Cottonwood Falls in Nelson, said the BC Coroners Service.
She was hiking with a companion when she fell, landing first on rocks and then in Cottonwood Creek.
"She was pulled from the water and transported to Kootenay Lake Hospital, but she died in hospital from her injuries the next morning," said the coroners service.
