The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a scuba-diving incident in the ocean near Nanoose on July 20 as Martin Keith Bishop, 52, of Edmonton, Alta.
Bishop was visiting the mid-Island region on a family vacation and on July 20, went on a scuba-diving expedition with a dive-master and one other person. They entered the water near the intersection of Tyee Crescent and Blueback Road in Nanoose, a well-known diving spot.
During the dive, something went wrong and Bishop died at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
