Fur babies take flak

It’s something three Delta residents take very seriously.

Keeping their fur babies safe is a top priority, which is why they designed a product that prevents dogs from being harmed by another animal – a sort of doggy flak jacket.

K-9 Guard is a protective dog jacket that aims to reduce the risk of dogs being seriously injured while out hiking, walking or socializing with their human companions, by creating protective gear they can wear comfortably in any environment.

The jackets are made of high-quality, durable polyester with a waterproof membrane. There are three Kevlar inserts, located in the neck piece and body of the jacket, to provide bite and puncture protection.

Allison Arnould, Sara Leibl and Alexandra Blumberg launched the Delta firm in 2014.

The women say their dogs improve their lives in so many ways, and encourage them to get out and get active.

“They expect very little in return, we can thank them by ensuring they are sufficiently protected from unexpected injury while accompanying us on our adventures,” said an online statement.

Recent reports of dog-on-dog aggression related injury or deaths seemed to be steadily on the rise, which concerned the three.

“We love having our dogs accompany us on our daily outings, visiting dog parks and other off leash socializing areas but safety becomes a concern. The K-9 Guard gives dog owners an added level of comfort, knowing they are protecting their beloved dogs from potential pain and injury.”

All three believe they understand the amazing connection people have with their dogs.  

“What wouldn’t we do to help ensure their safety?  As such, we wanted to give all dog owners an opportunity to help protect their beloved pets from the unnecessary pain and trauma caused by dog on dog aggression,” they stated online.

The jackets come in two different collections, one for spring and summer and another for fall and winter. The K9 Guard retails between $119.95 for small dogs to around $129 for large pups.
