Man shot in East Vancouver

One man remains in hospital this morning after he was shot in a targeted attack on Vancouver's east side last night.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, the Vancouver Police Department received multiple 911 calls of shots being fired near Oxford Street and Skeena Street.

“Attending officers quickly located a 33-year-old man in the back yard of a home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” says Sgt. Randy Fincham.

“He was taken to hospital and underwent surgery, and is expected to survive.”

While the motive for the attack has yet to be determined, Fincham says the victim is well known to police and the shooting is believed to be gang-related.

“Police are conducting an ongoing search for witnesses and video and the VPD continues to investigate.”

No arrests have been made in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
