Marijuana meet-up

A group that hopes to bring B.C.’s marijuana industry into the mainstream is holding a gathering in Cranbrook March 3 for anyone interested in the pot industry.

Women Grow is an organization started in Colorado in 2014, that looks to bring people in the industry together to “connect, educate, inspire and empower.”

Despite the name, Women Grow says its events attract everyone – men and women, old and young, educators and entrepreneurs.

Women Grow Kootenay held its first event on Jan. 7 in Nelson.

The organization says more than 80 people turned up at its inaugural event, all showing a strong interest in the legalization of pot in Canada.

The event is primarily a networking event, where people from all backgrounds and with a variety of interests, can meet.

At the upcoming March 3 event, held at St. Eugene Mission Golf Resort, there will also be presentations by people in the hemp and cannabis industry.

The goal of the events is to “create a brand new industry fuelled by compassionate, professional Canadians.”
