Help sought in strange crash

Pemberton RCMP are seeking the public's help in tracking down individuals involved in an unusual collision.

On Saturday, police responded to a report of a pickup hitting a pedestrian on Highway 99, just south of Portage Road, about 11:15 a.m.

The truck apparently struck a pedestrian on the shoulder of the road, said Sgt. Rob Knapton of the Whistler RCMP. The driver then stopped and got the pedestrian into the vehicle and drove away.

A witness was able to get a photo of the pickup as it departed.

The late-model Chevrolet pickup was last seen heading north on Highway 99.

Police have attempted to locate the vehicle and checked the local clinic, but have been unable to find either the vehicle or the pedestrian.

During the incident, a blue SUV pulled up beside the pickup and stopped. Police are hoping to speak with the driver of that vehicle, or anyone who may have any information on the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6126, or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
