Stockwell back on the road

A former Okanagan MP and leader of the Canadian Alliance is hitting the streets, embarking on a bus tour in support of the Conservative Party in the coming federal election.

Stockwell Day, the former member of Parliament for Okanagan-Coquihalla is taking a bus across B.C. with Lower mainland MP and Industry Minister James Moore.

They'll be pitching the Tory message that a Conservative government is the best choice to protect the economy.

“We balanced the budget, and the federal Liberals are now announcing they want to go back into massive deficits that will only add more debt onto Canadian families," said Day.

Day became leader of the newly formed Canadian Alliance Party in the summer of 2000, and became MP for Okanagan-Coquihalla in that fall's election.

His political aspirations flamed out after an ill-conceived press conference at which he arrived via SeaDoo. He did not seek re-election in 2011.

Day was in Trail on Monday, campaigning with Conservative candidate Marshall Neufeld in the South Okanagan-West Kootenay riding. He is in Vancouver today, campaigning with the Tories' Wai Young.

A schedule for Day’s bus tour has not been released.
