Heavy traffic on B.C. roads

For those traveling in the interior of B.C. expect delays along several highways.

Highway 6EW at Lower Arrow Lake is experiencing heavy traffic, DriveBC is reporting a three to four hour wait from the Needles Ferry Dock to the Fauquier Ferry Dock.

Highway 3 remains closed 14 km east of Osoyoos at the Anarchist Mountain rest area to Midway because of a wildfire which jumped the B.C./Washington State. Thick smoke in the area poses a significant concern for motorists. There is no estimated time of reopening as this fire is not contained.

Highway 33 is closed from Beaverdell to Rock Creek due the aggressive wildfire that sparked Thursday afternoon.  As this fire is not contained there is no estimated time of reopening.

DriveBC suggests a detour through Highway 6 from Vernon via Lumby to Nakusp or along Hwy 1 via Hwy 97A in Sicamous, however motorists should expect delays along these routes.
