Crash sends 6 to hospital

A single-vehicle crash in Nanaimo sent six people to hospital, Saturday.

About 2 p.m., Nanaimo RCMP received a report of a rollover accident on Quesnel Road. There were six people injured, with one trapped under the vehicle.

Passers by were performing first aid on the injured when emergency personnel arrived on the scene. One male was unresponsive and was pinned under the vehicle. 

Cedar Fire Department freed the man. 

Several ambulances were required to transport the injured to hospital, as well as two air ambulances to transport two of the injured to Victoria General Hospital.

All six occupants are reported to be in serious but stable condition. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

The Nanaimo RCMP traffic unit is investigating the incident, said RCMP Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong.
