Home goes up in flames

A home was destroyed in a spectacular fire overnight in the South Okanagan.

Willowbrook volunteer firefighters responded to the blaze at 10:45 p.m.

A huge orange glow from the structure fire filled the sky, and flames fully engulfed the building.

The occupants of the home reportedly made it out of the home safely with only the clothes on their backs and their pets. There is no word yet on what started the fire.

Crews went into a exterior attack to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby cars and the forest around the home. A few trees started to go up in flames, but firefighters doused them quickly.

The firefighters responded with four fire trucks and were assisted on scene by RCMP and B.C. Ambulance paramedics.

Fire crews were still on the scene into the early morning hours.
