13 charged in drug bust

Thirteen people have been charged with more than 60 offences in a sweeping drug investigation.

A total of 66 drug and firearms charges have been laid following the 21-month-long drug trafficking investigation. 

One of the accused, Sephon Sek, is out bail awaiting trial on manslaughter and breaking and entering charges in connection to his alleged role in the gang slayings of six people in Surrey in 2007.

The Surrey RCMP Drug Section began its probe in June 2013. In September of last year, four search warrants were executed. 

Large quantities of drugs were seized, including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA and Oxycodone, as well as firearms and money.

Police worked with with Crown counsel over seven months to obtain charge approvals. 

Sek, of Surrey, Mona Khodabandehloo of Burnaby and Glen Hudson of Surrey together share 36 counts of trafficking, four counts of possession of controlled drugs and seven firearms-related charges.

Also charged are:

  • Andres Naranjo (Surrey, three counts of trafficking)
  • Yaeil Jang (Port Coquitlam, five counts of trafficking)
  • Sonny Nguyen (Surrey, one count of trafficking)
  • Francis Le (Surrey, one count of trafficking)
  • Lester Ray (Burnaby, two counts of trafficking)
  • Dylan Herman (Delta, two counts of trafficking)
  • Harjoot Garg (Surrey, two counts of trafficking)
  • Daniel Cluett (Surrey, four counts of trafficking, one count of breach of undertaking)

Additionally, two youths were charged with a total of seven counts of trafficking and three firearms-related counts. 

Eight of the 13 were arrested on March 20. Ray Jang, Nguyen, Garg and Naranjo remain at large and have warrants for their arrest.

"Those who traffic in illicit drugs destroy lives, homes and communities and the Surrey RCMP is fully committed to disrupting the criminal activities of individuals involved in illegal drugs."
