X-Files returns to Vancouver

The X-Files is returning to Vancouver, sci-fi series villain "the Smoking Man" confirms.

Local actor William B. Davis played the shadowy character on the hit TV series, which was filmed in the Lower Mainland in the 1990s.

Davis told CTV the truth is out there – and that the show’s just-announced six-episode comeback will be shot where it began in 1993.

“That’s my understanding, and I actually have my understanding from the horse’s mouth,” Davis said. “It will actually shoot here in Vancouver, and soon – starting in June.”

He said series creator Chris Carter asked him to clear his schedule – despite his character already dying three times on the show.

“As they say, no one ever dies on The X-Files, Davis told CTV. “What they’re going to do in terms of regenerating my character, I don’t know. I’m as excited to see that as anyone.”

Stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who play FBI duo Mulder and Scully, are also said to be back for the project.

Studio space and crews have already been secured for the filming, which was announced earlier this week, Davis said.
