A man is in custody in Salmon Arm following complaints he was distraught, intoxicated and armed.
RCMP responded to a call shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday of a man inside a vehicle on a rural property on Black Road.
He was reportedly intoxicated and in possession of a firearm.
Police contained the property with officers from Salmon Arm and the North Okanagan as well as a dog team. The Emergency Response Team was also activated due to the risk to public safety.
RCMP were able to establish contact with the man and successfully de-escalated the situation.
The man was safely taken into custody.
He was uninjured, but is in hospital in the care of health-care professionals.
