Strong interest in jail jobs

It appears many people are interested in finding employment at the new Okanagan Correctional Centre in Oliver, slated for completion in 2016.

More than 700 applicants turned out for information sessions last year, leading the province to schedule four new info sessions next month.

These full-day sessions will take place in Oliver the weekend of March 14 and in Kelowna the following weekend.

The sessions are free and include information about corrections and the justice system, the roles and duties of a correctional officer and the unique needs of the offender population, along with information on preparing to apply for jobs.

There will be more than 240 full-time positions available in the area, and these sessions are designed to help candidates get ready for the next steps in the process.

Those interested in attending can call 604 462-5170, or register by email at [email protected] with REGISTER in the subject line. Please include first- and second-session choices and contact information in the body of the email.
