One arrested after body found
The Mackenzie RCMP and the North District Major Crime Unit are investigating what appears to be a suspicious death.
Police launched the investigation on Saturday Aug 16 after a dead body was discovered at a property on the east side of Mackenzie. Investigators along with forensic specialists were on site throughout Saturday and have completed their first response to the scene.
Police have yet to confirm the identity of the individual or how the individual died.
The BC Coroner Service has been called and an autopsy will be conducted in order to determine the exact cause of death.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old youth was taken into custody and has been remanded under the Mental Health Act for assessment.
Investigators are at the preliminary stages of this investigation but do not believe this is a random incident and are working to confirm what happened. No charges have been laid in connection with this matter.
Police ask anyone with information to contact the Mackenzie RCMP.
