Hwy. 1 reopened

Update: 7:45 p.m.

Highway 1 is now reopened in both directions, 32 km west of Revelstoke.

Expect heavy traffic volume between Revelstoke and Perry River through to 11:00 pm, due to traffic congestion from the earlier vehicle incident.

Update: Hwy 1 remains closed, as police investigate a vehicle incident.

The estimated time of opening is 7:30 pm. There is no local detour available.

Check DriveBC for updates.

Hwy. 1 is closed as RCMP and rescue personnel are trying to free several people who are trapped after a three car pile up near the Enchanted Forest.

The Revelstoke RCMP Detachment General Duty members are working at the scene by the bridge over the Eagle River. The RCMP Trans-Canada East Traffic Services unit have an investigator present and a Traffic Services Accident Reconstructionist is en route.

Revelstoke Fire Rescue and Revelstoke BC Ambulance Service are in attendance along with HMC and the Ministry of Transportation. Flaggers are on scene.

More information will be provided when available.
