Recovery mission continues
The search for two men's bodies, now missing for over a week, continued Tuesday on Kinbasket Lake near Golden BC.
The Revelstoke RCMP has been actively searching for the two missing men since July 7, when the pair were reported missing while boating on the lake.
Sixty year old Allen Healy of Osoyoos and 55-year-old Mike Murphy of Mission were in a 12-foot aluminum fishing boat, with a 9.9 hp Honda motor when they disappeared under the water.
Police officers, Revelstoke Search and Rescue volunteers, BC Hydro and Western Pacific Enterprises employees, as well as the family of both men have searched a vast area of water and shoreline without any sign of the boat or the men.
Last week an underwater recovery team was brought in to search the lake at depths of up to 600 ft.
According to the Revelstoke RCMP, the lake bottom has been partially mapped over the past four days and contains heavily forested and rocky terrain.
“This type of lake bottom provides great difficulty for the team. The sonar device has been caught up in these flooded trees at depths of 500 feet. The Ralstons persist to locate the bodies of the two males as well as the boat,” says Staff Sergeant Kurt Grabinksy.
The operation continues today with the support of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team.
