Massive blaze at berry farm

A massive fire has ripped through a farm in Abbotsford, completely destroying the top floor of a building.

The blaze broke out just after midnight according to CTV Vancouver, at Maan Farms, a popular U-pick berry farm.

About 50 firefighters were called to the scene and found a main building fully engulfed in flames. The fire also spread through a barn that houses a storefront and a restaurant.

"Due to location, size of the fire and the extent of the fire, when we got on scene it took a little bit of work to get water supplies established," said Assistant Fire Chief Ron Hull. "The top floor is completely burned off."

No one was badly injured in the blaze, but one firefighter was treated for heat exposure. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire comes right at the peak of berry picking season, a major source of income for the farm.
