Charges have been laid against 11 men in BC following a lengthy child pornography investigation called Operation Snapshot III.
The operation began in February 2014 and involved 40 police agencies across the country, coordinated by the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC). They targeted child sex offenders who collect, possess, share, make available, distribute and produce child sexual exploitation material online.
The operation involved 167 investigations conducted by all levels of law enforcement and resulted in the seizure of hundreds of computers and hard drives along with nearly two million images or videos.
Five children, including two from BC, were rescued during the investigation but no more information has been provided in order to keep the privacy of the children.
"For every person arrested and prosecuted, dozens of potential future victims are saved from harm," said RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson.
"Over the past three years, Snapshot has built on the dedication, partnership and collaborative efforts of police agencies, sending a message to would-be abusers that we will not be deterred from protecting children."
To date, 32 charges have been laid against the following men:

- Possession/Accessing CP - 2 Charges - Male 29 years old
Nanaimo:
- Possession/Make Available CP, Sexual Interference, Invitation to Sexual Touching, Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Assault - 6 Charges - Male 43 years old
Revelstoke:
- Possession/Accessing CP, Produce Controlled Substance, Invitation to Sexual Touching, Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Assault - 6 Charges - Male 31 years old
Sidney:
- Possession and Make Available - 2 Charges - Male 45 years old
- Possession/Accessing and Make Available - 3 Charges - Male 64 years old
Surrey:
- Luring - 1 Charge - Male 35 years old
Williams Lake:
- Possession and Distribution - 2 Charges - Male 65 years old
