Missing man's body found

The body of a missing Nelson man has been found in a wooded area.

According BCTV Kooteneys the body of 21-year-old Michael Mucha was located at approximately 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning by Nelson Search and Rescue in an area near the north end of the orange bridge in Nelson.

The exact cause of death is not being released at this time, however, police confirm foul play is not suspected. 

Mucha was reported as missing by the Nelson RCMP on June 17 after walking away from his home.

RCMP noted that he had left all his personal belongings at his residence and appeared to have left on foot in an unknown direction.

Nelson Search and Rescue conducted a grid search behind his home and up the mountainside and nearby power lines late in the evening on June 17th with no success.  

Family members have been made aware of his discovery.

The B.C. Coroner Service is now in charge of the file.
