6:20 p.m. update: Prince George RCMP report two bodies have been recovered from a vehicle that was pulled from a rural lake Sunday afternoon.
Just before 4 p.m., the Prince George RCMP coordinated the removal of a vehicle from Kwitzil Lake, with the assistance from the BC RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, one male and one female were located deceased in the vehicle.
Police began their investigation at 4 a.m., when they received a report that a vehicle had gone into the lake, more commonly known as Gravel Pit Lake, just off Highway 16, 42 kilometres west of Prince George.
The RCMP, the Beaverly Volunteer Fire Department and the BC Ambulance Service attended the scene. The area was the location of a large party throughout the night and it is believed that hundreds attended.
The investigation is continuing in partnership with the BC Coroners Service.

1:14 p.m. - There are unconfirmed reports that two people have died in the incident.
Ainsley Joy Thompson who was born in Kwitzil Lake and lives in Prince George, said in a Facebook post that she had been told a "girl was sleeping in the back [of the vehicle] when her boyfriend drove off the road and into the lake."
The two people were at a graduation party at the time.
RCMP and Prince George Search and Rescue have not confirmed the deaths.

RCMP are investigating what they are calling a "possible drowning" after a vehicle went into a lake west of Prince George.
Officers say police responded to distress calls at Kwitzil Lake early this morning and believe that two people could have been in a vehicle that went into the waters.
Police say that the area was the site of a large party throughout the night.
Officers say Prince George Search and Rescue have attended the area and have located a vehicle in the lake.
An RCMP recovery team is currently en route to the scene and is expected to arrive this afternoon.
