Stabbing victim identified

Update -- May 16, 8:45 a.m.

The man stabbed to death in Surrey on May 14 has been identified as 39-year-old Milton Reyes-Moraga, originally from Nicaragua.

Sergeant Adam MacIntosh of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says there are no charges laid in the investigation at this time, and another man who had been in police custody has since been released.

Reyes-Moraga was not known to police and had no criminal record.

MacIntosh also says there is no link to a domestic incident, or any relation to gangs or criminal activity.

UPDATE 9:15 A.M. -

Shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, RCMP in Surrey were called to a disturbance in the 9300 block of 132 Street in Surrey. 

Police found a 39-year-old Hispanic male with serious stab wounds.  He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

A 29-year-old Hispanic male was arrested at the scene and also taken to hospital with minor injuries and later released.  The suspect and victim are known to each other but are not known to police.  

This incident is not considered a random act, related to gangs or criminal activity.  No persons have been charged at this time.
 
"In the early stages of the investigation this appears to have been a fight turned deadly.  IHIT is working with the Surrey RCMP to determine the circumstances leading up to the homicide." says Sgt. Adam MacIntosh of IHIT.

One person has been taken into custody after a stabbing death in Surrey Wednesday night.

CTV BC is reporting that police were called to a home in the 9300 block of 132nd Street around 9 p.m. and found one person dead.

No names have been released.

And a search continues for 33-year-old Barry McQuarrie, who is wanted in connection with an unrelated fatal shooting in Surrey’s Cloverdale neighbourhood on Monday night.

IHIT Sgt. Adam MacIntosh says 32-year-old Gregory Quesnelle was shot to death in a targeted attack likely linked to an ongoing domestic dispute.
