Mother murdered

UPDATE 4:00 P.M. 

The man suspected of killing Thi Tam Nguyen was found dead Sunday afternoon.

Cong Nguyen, age 31, was found by investigators in Gladstone Park in South Vancouver.

Nguyen was wanted in connection with the murder of his ex-wife.

According to Vancouver police, the 31-year-old committed suicide.

Thi Tam, 27, was found dead in her home at approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday and police said the incident was not random.

The son of the deceased woman, a four-year-old boy, was taken into police care.

Police did not release Thi Tam’s cause of death.


UPDATE 9:44 A.M. 

One woman was found murdered in a home in East Vancouver Saturday afternoon.

Officials confirmed the homicide, the sixth murder of the year in Vancouver, occurred at a home on East 41st Avenue near Rupert Street.

The 27-year-old woman, identified by police as Thi Tam Nguyen was a resident of the house. The son of the deceased woman, a four-year-old boy, is in police care.

"We have a large number of officers dealing with this investigation," said Cst. Brian Montague of the Vancouver Police Department. "We are working with other police departments, our emergency response team is involved. Beyond that I can tell you it's a priority, we want to get the person involved in custody."

No arrests have been made and police are not releasing the cause of death.

Police said the incident is not random and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are calling the death of a 27-year-old woman in East Vancouver a homicide.
