Arrest made in murder
A man has been arrested in connection with the apparent murder of a woman in a Richmond apartment building, investigators say.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation launched a murder probe after a body was found just before 2 p.m. in the 7000-block of Granville Avenue Sunday.
Officials confirmed the woman’s body was found in Panorama Place, an apartment building near Gilbert Road.
Officers arrested a male suspect at the scene.
Investigators said it was too early to tell exactly what happened, but early information indicates the suspect and victim knew each other and it appears to be a domestic violence incident.
IHIT did not confirm the identity of the victim or the suspect, who is set to appear in court Monday.
“We are in the very early stages of this investigation and we are working to establish what happened inside the apartment. We are asking anyone that may have heard anything or has other information to contact the IHIT Tipline.” Cpl. Dominic Duchesneau said in a statement.
Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or [email protected], or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
