Arrested while on the run
A 21-year-old man from Edmonton has been arrested and charged with a multitude of offences after he was found in the north Thompson on Thursday.
Justin Brock Normand is alleged to have stolen a car from Edmonton and driven himself through Clearwater and Barriere, before stopping at Adams Lake.
There he broke into a home and torched the car, before trying to flee once again.
Local residents and logging truck drivers attempted to contain the man until police arrived, but he stole a boat.
Members of the Chase and Barriere RCMP, along with Central Interior Traffic Services, an emergency response team and the Air 4 helicopter found him on Adams Lake.
He was arrested a few hours later when he came ashore.
Normand is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, intentionally causing damage to a car by arson, break and enter, theft of a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm.
He made his first appearance in Kamloops Provincial Court on Friday.
