UPDATE MAY 6 -
After a thorough investigation into the death of a 55-year-old Revelstoke man, police have determined that the circumstances of the incident were not criminal in nature.
On April 25 at approximately 11:15 am, emergency medical personnel were called to 9th Street across from Queen Elizabeth Park for a report of an injured male. That man, who was later identified as Dean Pratico of Revelstoke, subsequently died from his injuries.
The investigation into Pratico's death revealed that the incident was not instigated by the 34-year-old Revelstoke man involved in the interaction, and he has since been cleared of all wrong-doing.
This was a tragic incident suffered by both men and has profoundly affected their families. Unfortunately, those involved continue to be further victimized through inappropriate phone calls and postings on social media networks.
The Revelstoke RCMP and the South East District Major Crime Unit would like to thank the members of the general public that came forward with information.
