UPDATE 12:20 P.M. - Andre Harvey Richard has been arrested in the Southeast corner of British Columbia.
Castanet has learned he was arrested on Highway 3 near Fernie.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. (Pacific Time) this (Thursday) morning, RCMP received a report of an erratic / possibly impaired driver near Fernie. The complainant was able to follow the suspect until the vehicle came to a stop.
Richard exited his vehicle and went into the roadside bush. A crisis negotiator was called and local police attended - after some time, Richard was taken into custody without further incident.
Langley RCMP Serious Crime Investigators are preparing to travel to Cranbrook to follow through on the investigation.
The Report to Crown Counsel will be completed later this afternoon and submitted for charge approval. It is anticipated formal charges will be laid within the next 24 hours.

Richard, the subject of a province-wide manhunt after a Langley home was set on fire early yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
The 44-year-old Richard was arrested Thursday morning on Highway 3 near Fernie.
The highway had been shut down for what was being called a police incident.
RCMP have confirmed the incident concerned the arrest of Richard. No other details have been offered.
Along with the fire police say a woman inside the home was viciously attacked.
Her 14-year-old daughter was also attacked.
Everyone inside managed to escape the fire, however, the home was destroyed.
