Armed robbery in Castlegar

RCMP in Castlegar are looking for a male suspect after the Kootenay Savings Credit Union was robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday.

According to police, a man entered the bank around 1:18 p.m. and brandished a firearm. A bank robbery alarm was sounded, but the man got away with an undisclosed amount of US currency before RCMP arrived.

The suspect is described as a white male, standing approximately 5’6” with a slim build. He was wearing black cargo pants, a dark faded black hoodie and possibly a ball cap under the hoodie. He also wore black shoes, dark gloves and his face was covered.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for anyone acting suspiciously or lurking around businesses.
