Mysterious trail of blood in Vancouver
A trail of blood two blocks long that was discovered in East Vancouver over the weekend has left police scratching their heads.
Officers discovered the blood early Sunday morning after a man was found seriously injured inside a home on East 6th Avenue near Brunswick Street.
He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Strangely, while the death is considered suspicious, Sgt. Randy Fincham said investigators have found no connection to the blood trail found on the street.
“The trail of blood, we believe at this point, is completely separate from what happened in the home,” Fincham said.
The trail ran from the south lane of East 6th Avenue and George Street to Scotia Street.
Investigators are trying to track down whose blood it is and are asking the public to help locate the owner, who was likely injured late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
Samples are also being sent for DNA analysis to confirm the blood is human.
“There is a possibility it’s an animal. We believe from what investigators have found and the positioning of the blood that it is human,” Fincham said.
