According to Sgt. Rob Vermeulen one of the four vehicles involved in the collision was a tanker truck and first responders had to deal with a fire involving this truck.

It's getting more difficult for drivers to get to and from the coast as yet another major highway is closed.

Highway 1 has now been shut down, in both directions, 25 km. east Lytton to Spences Bridge (36.2 km.) because of a vehicle incident.

Hwy. 5 has been closed since an avalanche Thursday. Traffic was going around the closed route by taking Hwy. 8 from Merritt to Hwy. 1.

The last route open to the lower mainland is Hwy. 3, the Hope Princeton.

DriveBC has no estimated time of opening for Hwy. 1 or Hwy. 5.
