UPDATE 11:45 A.M.
Hwy.1 has reopened from Revelstoke to Golden after a avalanche forced a closure earlier today.

An avalanche has forced the closure of Highway 1, in both directions, from Revelstoke to Golden (147.8 km).
No detour is available.
Estimated time of opening is 12 Noon.
There are also problems on the major route from the interior to Vancouver as Hwy. 5 is closed for avalanche control.
