Body of missing male found
RCMP in Watson Lake, BC have recovered the body of a 43 year old male from Lower Post BC, after he was reported missing yesterday.
He was last seen on January 1 leaving the New Years Eve fireworks celebration in Lower Post on his snowmobile. Friends searched the area for him.
The RCMP were notified on January 2 by concerned family and friends.
A search crew was organized, and along with community members who assisted, a ground and aerial search of the area was conducted at first light.
Today, the missing person’s body and snowmobile were located on the shore of the Liard River, close to where he lived.
It appears that the deceased drove off the road, hitting a snowbank which threw him over an embankment.
Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors.
Foul play is not suspected.
