Hwy. 1 crash claims 23-year-old
On December 20 at approximately 8 p.m. MST, Golden RCMP responded to a collision 5 km west of Golden, BC.
An SUV traveling eastbound lost control crossing over into the westbound lane and was hit by a pickup truck. The 23-year-old female driver of the SUV was deceased on scene. A female passenger in the truck was transported to Golden General Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
The Trans Canada Highway was closed for four hours, reopening around midnight last night. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Cst. Brunner of the Trans Canada East Traffic Services would like to remind motorists, "This is a very busy time of year on local highways and road conditions can change very quickly. Please give yourself extra time when making your travel plans and get everyone home safe."
RCMP will not be releasing the name of the deceased.
