Highway 1 avalanche control

Highway 1 has been reopened.

Motorists planning on travelling East to Revelstoke and beyond on Highway 1 this morning could encounter some problems.

DriveBC is reporting the route will be closed 26 kilometres west of the town, in both directions for avalanche control.

The road will be closed from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

There are also reports of black ice, and compact snow with slippery sections along the route.
