Sicamous RCMP has confirmed that four vehicles were involved in a serious crash on Highway 1, east of the town.

Officers say a Ford Bronco lost control, rolled and came to a rest in the middle of the highway. The driver was able to exit the vehicle unharmed, but due to the incident, three tractor-trailers also became involved in the crash and are completely blocking traffic on the Eagle River Bridge.

One of the tractor-trailers burst into flames and has since been extinguished, but no injuries have been reported.

The Ministry of Transportation is on scene and will be assessing the structural integrity of the bridge later this morning.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
