I would like your guidance as to what you see for me over the next year or so. I have just turned 60 and feel disappointed in myself that I have not made the changes I know I should have – having the courage to leave my roommate-like marriage, turning down career opportunities that would have been wonderful…..how can I feel positive about the future? Am I too ‘advanced’ or fearful to move forward? Feeling stagnated!
H.
Dear H.,
Turning 60 is a wonderful time for you to explore your heartfelt desires and make the necessary changes that are going to bring you the happiness and fulfillment you are seeking at this stage in your life.
The beautiful thing about life is that it does not matter what age we are as far as opportunities go. The Universe is abundant with opportunities of all kinds, in all areas and it is never too late to open ourselves to these gifts.
It would be easier for you to find the courage you need if you could break down your dreams and visions into smaller steps or mini-visions. From here you can assess whatever fears are holding you back from living your ultimate life. Once you are aware of your fears you can reframe them into positive “I can” statements and start to make some changes.
It makes a tremendous difference to the re-working of your mind set if you can choose the mini-visions that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that can achieve within a six month time frame. This will serve you in having the confidence, faith and courage to make the bigger changes and by this time you mind will be in a greater “believing” state.
If you can look at your career and the opportunities that you turned down in the past from a higher perspective and let go of any regrets and resentments you feel towards yourself this will open up new doors for you. It is so important for you to remember that it is never too late and you are not too old.
Think of your age as a number and an accumulation of experience and wisdom that is an asset to you and your life at this time.
It is never too late to start saying “yes” to life and now is your time.
Another exercise that would solidify your new sense of direction would be to create a vision board based on all of your visions. Have fun with this and be as creative as you can. Choose images that really speak to your heart and act as a daily reminder of where you are going rather than where you have been.
Every day is a new day… Just for today, let your past go with blessings and allow yourself to dream of the life you desire. You are not too advanced, this is your time. Make small changes at first and you will build the courage to move forward.
