I have been assigned a new area of management at work, along with another manager. The problem seems to be that the other manager does not want to do their part, or even discuss it, and so I am left to do it all. I am not sure how to handle this situation. Can you please guide me as to what I should do? Thank you, K.L.
Congratulations on your new assignment; it is an indication that your company sees that you are capable of more than what your job description originally included.
I feel that the Universe has brought you together with this other manager to work with on this new assignment as a learning process for both of you.
For your colleague it is about teamwork, or lack thereof, in your particular situation as well as doing something that can give them opportunity to prove their capacity in management. This is being questioned right now and what they choose to do with it will dictate their future in management with the company.
The issues you are having with this person are an indication that they are not willing to be a team player and are not taking this new role seriously at all. Their work ethic is mediocre at best and I am getting that they will do only that which is necessary to satisfy the company without actually making any real effort.
The best way for you to handle this is to do what you know needs to be done with enthusiasm and integrity. The company will see the work you put in, in other words your high work ethic, and you will be rewarded for it in the long run.
If you can maintain a cordial attitude towards your colleague even though they are making it difficult for you, this will at the very least keep a sense of peace, balance and harmony within yourself.
Within the next few months I can see that there will be more changes that will reflect your management ability to its fullest. It may be with another company but the wonderful news about the Universe, is that no good deed and no real effort go unnoticed.
For you this will translate into other opportunities that will reward the work you do now and your ability to maintain a positive attitude through it all.
The key for you here is to maintain your sense of dignity and stay positive. It is also important for you to recognize how hard you work and honor yourself for that. Your ability to do this will speak volumes to the Universe at large and again, only wonderful things can come of it for you in the near future.
Every day is new day …Just for today, take a step back and recognize yourself for all that you do at work, for all that you are capable of and consequently make the space for the Universe to gift you for it.
