Kelowna's Kelsey Serwa was inches away from a possible medal in women's ski cross at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

On a snowy course at North Vancouver's Cypress Mountain, Serwa dominated the field in winning the first two heats and advancing to the semi-final.

Serwa got out of the gates quickly in the semi and led for the first three-quarters of the race.

Karin Huttary of Austria and Marion Josserand of France both squeezed past Serwa near the bottom of the course. Serwa battled back and finished just inches behind Josserand at the finish line, relegating the 20-year-old to the 'Small Final.'

Serwa easily won the consolation race, finishing fifth overall.

Her teammate Ashleigh McIvor won gold in the final.
