Hornz celebrate 10 years with the King

Over the past 10 years Kelowna has been home to a professional touring horn section whom you may or may not have heard of.

They call themselves the Uptown Hornz and they are comprised of 4 very talented musicians; Mike Schell (trumpet/ flugel horn /music director), Chris Manuel (trombone), Dean Bates (tenor sax/ flute /musical arranger) and Gordy Frie (bari and tenor sax).

You may remember seeing the Uptown Hornz at the Penticton Elvis Festival where, as a sanctioned group by Elvis Presley Enterprises, they perform with many of the top Elvis tribute artists and will once again this year.

You may have also seen them more recently with Rann Berry's One Hit Wonders in Kelowna and Vernon.

The Uptown Hornz have had an incredible ride over their first 10 years together, having performed with many of Elvis's original band members like his lead guitarist James Burton and Dj Fontana, Elvis's drummer.

They are currently booking one of their biggest tours yet as they prepare to travel the country with their Legends of Rock 'N Roll show featuring three of the worlds top Elvis tribute artists in Shawn Klush, Cody Slaughter and Ben Portsmouth. All 3 were featured on David Letterman last week to help him celebrate Elvis Week.

This incredible show will be making one quick stop in Kelowna during the tour on Oct 20th at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

The Uptown Hornz are currently celebrating their 10 year anniversary on the road with one of the top Elvis tribute acts in Randy Elvis Friskie and you are invited to come out and celebrate with them in Kelowna, Penticton or Vernon.
