Sociology 362 which is a Social Inequality class taught by professor Dr. Shelley Pacholok, at UBC Okanagan will be putting together an event during Poverty and Homelessness awareness week.
October 15 starting at 12:30 a food and clothing drive will be taking place on campus in the courtyard. All the clothes will be going to the Kelowna Gospel Mission and the Pregnancy Care Centre with the food going to the Salvation Army. We are having guest speakers and free coffee. The guest speakers include Shelley Cook (executive director of the John Howard Society) & Dr. Carlos Teixeira (the domain leader of the Housing Metropolis Project). Speakers go on from 2:15- 3:15.
