Kelowna Community Chorus - Come sing with us!
We are a fun, non-audition adult choir who enjoys learning about and making music. We are fortunate to have the talent and expertise of Leroy Wiens as our Director. Leroy (who also directs the Okanagan Festival Singers) offers a musical experience combining excellence in musical education and direction with a whole lot of relaxed fun. Our choir is now operated through a nonprofit society, the Kelowna Community Chorus Society. Previously, the choir was part of the Continuing Education Programme of the former Okanagan University College. Our singers come from all walks of life, and from a wide range of musical backgrounds, from those who see only black tadpoles on the page to accomplished sight readers. No one is ever put on the spot, and those with musical training are very helpful to those who need assistance. Our choir currently consists of approximately 50 men and women of all ages. We continue to offer our program in a semester system, with a fall term from September to December (Dec. 6th, final concert) and a Spring term from January to April. We start with new music, coming from a variety of musical periods and genres, at the beginning of every Semester. We perform the music at a concert at the end of each term. If you enjoy music, and would also appreciate a weekly evening of self-indulged pampering, please come sing with the Kelowna Community Chorus. We are always happy to welcome new singers. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church (Moorland Hall) on Lakeshore Road (across the street from the Pheasant and Quail). Come along and try us out.
