The next night of Public Viewing at the Okanagan Observatory will be Friday, October 3, 2008 from 7-10 pm.
The Okanagan Observatory is 4 kms up Big White Rd from Hwy 33. That makes it only 35 kms from Rutland Rd. Club members will have their telescopes pointed at many wondrous celestial objects such as Jupiter and 4 of its moons and the Andromeda galaxy as well as clusters of 500,000 stars, dying stars, double stars and super nova remnants. We will be pointing out the Milky Way and constellations with special astronomical laser pointers as we tour the night sky. A Go/No Go will be posted on the website, www.okanaganobservatory.ca, at 3pm, Oct 3 in case the weather turns bad. We then will move the event to Saturday, Oct 4 at the same times. Another Go/No Go will be given Sat at 3pm. Or, you can phone the Okanagan Observatory Event Phone, 250-300-8SKY (8759) for an event update. We plan on having these public outreach nights every Friday night this fall. Check the website below for further details. |
