The Vipassana Meditation Centre of B.C. will host free screenings of The Dhamma Brothers this month in Kelowna.
This will take place at the main branch of the Okanagan Regional Library at 1380 Ellis St. at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008. The Dhamma Brothers is a powerful film that documents the introduction of Vipassana, a 10-day course of silent meditation, to inmates in a maximum-security prison in Alabama. Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India’s most ancient meditation techniques. It has been taught for more than 2,500 years as a remedy for universal ills. The Vipassana Meditation Centre of B.C. is located near Merritt, and offers 10-day meditation courses by donation on a year-round basis.
