Alternator Fall Speaker and Workshop Series

Time:
The public is invited to attend a talk by sound artist Sam McKinlay.

McKinlay, who currently lives in Vancouver grew up in Kelowna and graduated from UBC Okanagan. He will give a talk on Friday September 19 and a “harsh noise” workshop on Saturday September 20.

McKinlay’s sound art project THE RITA is an experimental sound work that incorporates analogue sources, distortion pedals, large amplifiers and occasionally visuals. Harsh noise is characterized as being very loud, abrasive, textural, dynamic, and visceral. Live shows are powerful monuments of the possibilities of abstracted sound and its effect on the listener.

For tickets or registration/workshop information contact the Alternator Gallery at 250-868-2298. Tickets on sale at the Alternator located at 421-Cawston Ave. Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 11-5pm.
