Coming to a Venue near you - Roundup for Research with a Hi-Tech Twist
Admit it – at one time or another we’ve probably all wished we could put a boss or colleague behind bars for just a day. Come this fall, employees in Kelowna will have an opportunity to do just this. Help the Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC Branch celebrate the 17th Anniversary of its Roundup for Research Campaign by putting a boss or co-worker in jail for a good cause. Residents are encouraged to turn their companies charitable offenders over to the Kidney Foundation authorities for office crimes such as taking the last cup of coffee without making more, forgetting to bring doughnuts to staff meetings or even worse, not giving employees a day off for their birthdays. Roundup for Research is coming to Wal-Mart September 24th & 25th and this year it has a virtual twist. In advance of this event offending participants will be remanded in “virtual jail” where the will be “locked up” in a cyber cell on their computer, earning their release through bail contributions made by friends, family members and colleagues who donate online. Individuals will be able to view the jailbirds by logging onto www.kidney.bc.ca and watching their progress. Then on, September 24th & 25th, the prisoners will be brought in person before the hangin’ judge who will decide if they may be release for good behavior from “virtual jail” or if they must spend more time on site in the Roundup for Research jail cells. To make sure a Roundup Warrant is issued for the arrest of your boss or co-worker, please contact Tia Woolner at (250) 215-6856. Funds raised help people affected by Kidney Disease. The Roundup for Research Campaign has raised more than $3 million dollars since it’s inception 17 years ago. These funds have contributed to the Foundation’s long term commitment to eradicate kidney disease through research – a cornerstone program of the Foundation. Our investment in research has contributed to the development and improvement of dialysis treatment, has increase the success rate of kidney transplants and has led to the ongoing advancement of anti-rejection drugs. While there has been significant progress over the years, there’s still a long way to go.
