Reptiles at Risk Project is on the Road

The Environmental Education Centre for the Okanagan (ECCO) hosts the ‘Reptiles at Risk on the Road’ project.

An interactive presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19th starting at 10:30 am at the EECO in Mission Creek Regional Park, Springfield and Durnin Roads.

The project is an outreach program involving Sciensational Sssnakes!! in partnership with Laurentian University and the Canadian Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Network. The program is designed to bring participants face to face with some of the reptile species that are at risk due to a loss of habitat, illegal collection, road mortality and intentional killing.

Under supervision during the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to touch or hold garter and hognose snakes, rubber boa, black rat snake, bullsnake, corn snake, painted turtle and snapping turtle.
