On Friday August 29 from 9:30 – 10:30pm, Parks Alive! will present Joyful Noise, A Celebration of Music, a collective performance by some of Kelowna’s finest musicians that were originally gathered together by Jane Eamon at the request of Festivals Kelowna Artistic Director Janet Anderson, to headline the illuminArts Lantern Celebration at the Life & Arts Festival in May. A huge rainstorm ended the commissioned concert half way through, so several of the songs could not be performed.

Joyful Noise, A Celebration of Music, is 60 minutes of traditional and contemporary Gospel music with a twist, including original material, Beatles tunes, some Vince Gill and traditional African a cappella. Joining Jane are an impressive collection of musicians and songwriters, including Norm Strauss on guitar and vocals, Andrew Smith on mandolin and vocals, Dean Clark on bass, Scott Gamble on drums, Malcolm Petch on keyboards and vocals, Gord Brush on guitar, and Sherri Funk and Sandy Groening on vocals.

On Saturday August 30 from 9:15 – 10:30pm, the final concert of the summer will end with a rare free opportunity to see Kinship, a touring professional five member Celtic band from Kelowna. Kinship have performed with such talents as Willy Nelson, Wide Mouth Mason, the Grapes of Wrath, Spirit of the West, the Leahy family, Lace, Lee Aaron, Tom Cochrane and Barney Bental. They perform regularly across BC and the USA and at special events including Klondike Days and Canada Day. “Kinship is one of the highest energy and entertaining bands I have ever seen perform”, said Anderson. “They have a huge fan base and Parks Alive! is pleased to end the 2008 summer series with this popular and excellent band”.
